We do not ask for special categories of personal data, and our services are not directed at children under 14.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
- Answering enquiries
- Steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), or our legitimate interest in replying to messages (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Registering and managing domain names
- Performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)), including passing registrant data to the registry, which domain registration requires.
- Invoicing, tax and accounting
- Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).
- Security, abuse handling and fraud prevention
- Our legitimate interest in protecting the service, our customers and third parties (Art. 6(1)(f)), and legal obligations where a registry or authority requires it (Art. 6(1)(c)).
- Service messages
- Renewal reminders and notices about your names are part of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
4. Who receives your data
- Domain registries. Red.es for
.es, EURid for.euand Registro.it for.itreceive the registrant and contact data needed to register and maintain your names, and process it as independent controllers under their own policies. Each registry decides what appears in its public WHOIS or RDAP service. For.esnames, section 14 of our Terms of Service explains what Red.es publishes and how to exercise your rights with Red.es. - Service providers acting on our behalf under data processing agreements: website hosting, content delivery and security (Cloudflare), email delivery, and accounting.
- Authorities and dispute resolution providers where the law, a court order or registry dispute rules require it.
We do not sell personal data.
5. The domain lookup
When you type a name into the lookup on our homepage, your browser sends the domain names (for example example.es, example.eu and example.it) directly to Cloudflare's public DNS resolver at cloudflare-dns.com to see whether they are delegated. That request goes from your browser to Cloudflare, together with your IP address, and is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not receive or store the names you search unless you send them to us in an enquiry or order.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers, including Cloudflare and Google (which serves the fonts used on this website), may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to an order: up to two years after our last exchange.
- Customer, registrant and order data: for as long as you hold names with us, then for the periods required by law, including six years for accounting records under the Spanish Commercial Code, and for as long as needed to handle possible claims.
- Technical logs: for a short period, normally no more than 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.
Data held by registries is kept according to each registry's own policy.
8. Cookies and statistics
This website only sets cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work, so they do not require consent:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
xwm_app_session | Keeps your session while you use the site and submit forms | 2 days |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | 2 days |
We measure page views with a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies or build profiles of individual visitors, based on our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used. We do not use advertising or social media tracking. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but forms may stop working.
9. Your rights
You can ask us for access to your personal data, and to rectify, erase or port it, restrict its processing or object to it, and you can withdraw any consent you have given at any time. Send your request through support or by post to our address. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we reply within one month.
Erasing registrant data while a name is registered is not possible, because the registry needs it to keep the name registered; transferring or cancelling the name comes first. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the supervisory authority where you live.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections, access controls and limited access on a need-to-know basis.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will tell customers about material changes.
